The house was originally a mill house with adjoining tobacco
drying tower and features exposed beams and barrel vaulted ceilings. The
kitchen is designed for modern convenience rather than purely rustic
charm, the dining area has a lovely open fireplace and the whole has a
comfortable home from home appeal. The shaded wisteria covered terrace
and thick stone walls keep the interior cool in summer. The nearest
village, about 3kms away, has a restaurant, a couple of bars & some
small shops. There are plenty of good restaurants in the surrounding
area and a big supermarket can be found 20 mins away by car. Cortona is
the nearest hilltop gem, 18 kms over the hills, while Citta di Castello
& Perugia are easy drives. Gubbio, Assissi, Arrezzo and Lake
Trasimeno are all within easy reach. Tour as you wish and then relax by
the pool in the quiet Tuscan countryside! Perfect... Fly to Perugia,
Bologna, Florence, Pisa or Rome. Directions supplied. Changeovers are on Saturdays. Beach towels are not provided but linen and
towels for the house are changed every week. The pool man/caretaker and
cleaning lady come every Saturday to prepare the house. A booklet is left in the house with general
points about the house, area & restaurants.
There is no mobile phone reception at the house
due to the surrounding hills and lack of good booster masts in the area but
reception is fine in San Leo Bastia where calls can also be made from a phone
booth at one village bar & free wifi at the other bar/pizzeria.
The large principal bedroom at top of the
house has a double bed & view across valley, access via spiral staircase.
Bedroom two on the middle floor has a
single bed with dual views.
A lovely large room with 2 double sofa beds can
provide more accommodation. The kitchen electric oven is built in at a
convenient height, plenty of cupboard space, light coloured marble worktop with
sink & 4 ring gas hob, a stand alone fridge with freezer compartment,
extendable wooden table with chairs & wonderful fireplace.
The rooms have terra cotta tiled floors, white
washed walls with some exposed stone detail. Lovely old roof beams support the
tiled roofs. The private pool measures 8 x 5 metres and
3 metres deep and is situated on a slightly higher level than the house giving
a panoramic view across & along the wooded valley. There is a gentle current
coming on from time to time in the pool to aid filtration and so you can swim
against it and effectively go for as long as you like without having to do
